Have you got what it takes to pass your theory test?

Did you know that to pass the UK driving theory test, you require a pass rate of 86%? We asked our customers and staff to take a mock test to see how they would fare, and how many people would pass it if they were taking it now!

Out of 2,000 respondents who were given a sample of 12 questions from the collection of UK theory test questions. The average score was just 57% meaning the majority of us would fail if we had to do our theory test again 😦

The pass rate for a theory test in the UK is 86% meaning on our test, you need a score of at least 11/12 correct answers to pass. However, the results show that on average only 6.84 questions were answered correctly by the survey takers. So, with some room for improvement, let's take a look at the questions which caught the most people out.

The toughest 5 questions

• Which colour follows the green signal at a puffin crossing? (37% got this right) Correct answer: Steady amber
• Which type of crossing allows cyclists to ride across whilst pedestrians are also crossing? (41% got this right) Correct answer: Toucan
• An adult casualty isn't breathing. To maintain circulation, CPR should be given. what's the correct depth to press down on their chest? (41% got this right) Correct answer: 5 to 6 cm
• You're driving on an open road in dry weather. What distance should you keep from the vehicle in front? (50% got this right) Correct answer: A 2 second time gap
• How much can stop distances increase in icy conditions? (51% got this right) Correct answer: Ten times

So, what was the winning question that most respondents answered correctly? The question that most people answered correctly was:

• What should you do if your anti-lock brakes (ABS) warning light stays on?

We are happy to reveal that a total of 87% of respondents got this correct!🤩 The correct answer was to have your brakes checked immediately!
